Career Series

The Singapore Professional Centre, right from its early years, has been conscious of the paramount importance of providing career guidance to the young school leavers of Singapore. It has recognized that Singapore's growth depends very much on her youth contributing effectively towards the economy. The need to recognize an individual's potential and tapping it is of paramount importance in moulding his future towards success and in so doing, gives an edge to the nation's pool of talents.

Acknowledging this essential factor in nation-building, the Singapore Professional Centre has been organizing the CAREER incorporating Recruitment Series. The Education and Seminars sector provides our young adults and school leavers with the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to make informed decisions about school and post school education, training and employment options and the Employment sector provides job opportunities for those embarking on their career and for those considering a second or third career.

CAREER Exhibition and Seminar - How It All Began

The past three decades saw numerous career guidance projects accomplished by SPC. Its valuable contributions in this particular area of community service including giving advice, occupation information, sharing experiences and serving as consultants/experts in addition to organizing career exhibitions and seminars.
The first Career Exhibition was held at the Victoria Memorial Hall in January, 1972. In 1973, a similar exhibition was held at SPC's Outram Park premises and subsequently at all community centers through an arrangement with the People's Association.
In 1975, at the first Singapore Professional Centre Convention entitled `Towards a Better Singapore' the idea of the Singapore Professional Centre promoting manpower training for the nation was raised. Within a year, the first career exhibition and seminar was held and paved the way for the CAREER Series - SPC's most outstanding career guidance event and the longest running series of career exhibition-cum-seminars held annually since 1988. Today, it is the biggest Career Exhibition in the region attracting over 300,000 visitors and 250 exhibitors both foreign and local and about 130 seminars of career guidance.
